At the center, a grenadier is shown with bayonette pointed at a frightened peasant being rousted from a hiding place in high grasses along a road. A second captive is seen being dragged out of the brush by another soldier. An officer stands to the left giving orders to those capturing prisoners and another officers stands guard over two earlier captives seated under a tree to the far left.
The etching is without title, but the title and the last name of the engraver have been verified.
This etching is considered to be important for its representation of the uniforms and the landscape.
