Note
Report, evidently to the Continental Congress, provides detailed accounts of troop placement and supply problems in the western theater of the revolutionary war: “The Inhabitants seem confident of being safe, and I am informed are every where coming out of their little Fortresses and over the Mountains, to Resettle their Plantations, wh. is pleasing, but is attended with this Inconveniency, that it makes Grain, Meat, & every other Article exceeding Scarce & Dear. I have not how Six Week’s flour on this side of the Mountains….”; also mentions the situation with the local Indians and the difficulty of maintaining troops.
