Four optical views showing details of military encampments; views from front, rear, left & right sides.
Probst was an engraver who specialized in producing optical prints of European cities, which could be viewed through an optical device to give an impression of deepened perspective. He published at least 340 different views, with captions in four languages. Most of his prints carry an imperial privilege, and give the size (ex. 'Med. Folo' = Median Folio) & group number, with the serial number of the print at top right corner.
