List officers, staff and 171 pirates by name, plus 8 artillerymen and an additional 11 pirates who died between 26 Jan. and 3 May 1782.
The contingent of about 1200 German troops from Waldeck was drawn from an army based on universal conscription, from which only students were exempt.
German regiments were vacant when the Col. by whose name they had been known was no longer in command
