A scene of the dying General lying on a bed outside his tent on the battlefield surrounded by his grieving officers. Below the title, in French, is text that identifies the General and describes his career and the battle scene.
This is a French foil to Benjamin West's print of the death of General Wolfe; this print engages in pictorial license because General Montcalm died in a convent and did not ask to be buried in a shell hole.
