Note
Supervision of the earliest American pirvateering efforts; Moylan, aide to Washington, Quartermaster General, cavalry officer, wrote for Washington as Secretary pro tem and ordered the return of personal possessions to two British captains whose vessels had been taken about ten days earlier. "I have it in command from his Excellency to desire you will deliver unto Charles Coffin & Sibelline White their bedding & wearing apparrell ... Let them be well examined lest any goods or cash may be secreted amongst them ..."
