The object of the French expedition, which had mobilized at Toulon in preparation for spring of 1756, was the island of Minorca, then held by the English. Admiral Byng was sent with inadequate force to protect the island.
Though titled "the seat of war", no military sites, keyed or otherwise, appear here with the map.
