Imprint inferred from similar engravings on leaves 102 and 103 of the present volume.
The Monarque, after her capture en route to the Antilles by Admiral Hawke in 1747, became the British ship Monarch, Admiral Byng's flagship during the action at Minorca. The Terrible sailing in the same 1747 convoy as the Monarque, also surrendered to Hawke two hours later. See E.H. Jenkins, A history of the French navy, p. 114-115.
