A young salor, returning from duty, is greeting by his lady.
Accompanied by 12 lines of poetry below the image, beginning: The world sail'd round behold the faithfull youth/ returns to her, who sympathiz'd in truth .... The poem ends: In every clime are Albion's thunders hurl'd,/ And Anson's wealth is from a tribute world.
Anson, along with Bedford and Sandwich, are today credited with a series of reforms in the Admiralty between 1744 and 1751. Later, however, Anson was to share with Byng public blame for the loss of Minorca.
