Scene of a battlefield in America. In a tent is an ailing young woman receiviing care from a wet nurse while an officer and his companion and an Indian look on. Below the engraving's title it reads: "Dedie aux ames sensibles."
Below the titles is French text telling the tale of a young woman who follows her officer lover to New York where he has been sent to fight in America. She becomes ill while her lover is apparently imprisioned by a jealous superior. The tale is apparently told to illustrate the triumph of love over adversity
At the bottom is information about the sale of the print at the home of the engraver.
