A handsome uniformed officer seeks recruits promising that "All volunteers that join my corps shall be treated as gentlemen, and provided for accordingly." One listener attempts to bribe the officer for a discharge; another with a wooden leg comments "Thirty years have I serv'd and you see what I have come to ..."
Apparently different from the caricature described by M. Dorothy George in English political caricature to 1792 (BMC 3581), p. 105. This engraving shows no "little temple topped by the Hanoverian Horse" trampling on Britannia; nor does it bear the subtitle "Brittannia's Happy Propect."
On leaf 269r of The tragedy of Admiral Byng, 1756-1757.
