London : Pursuant to Act of Parliament by T. Kitchin, July 10 1756

Note
Kitchin, more famous as a cartographer, probably created this engraving early in his career. Tooley's Dict. of mapmakers gives his birth date as 1718; the Oxford DNB, as 1719.
Britannia offers to Blakeney, the "Christian hero" the order of the garter; to Byng, a noose ("Tis Britannia's decree - Here's a halter for B--g/ As he fought like a sheep like a dog let him swing.")
16 lines of poetry appear below the illustration
One of two versions of this caricature; the other, a smaller (22 x 23 cm.), less sophisticated version, is also on leaf 117r of The Tragedy of Admiral Byng. A pencilled note in upper margin notes that the larger version is "an engraved copy of 3364 ... in the BMC This plate is not described." The smaller version is a copy of the third section of the larger broadside that appears between leaves 3 and 4 of The Tragedy of Admiral Byng, 1756-1757, q.v. (Note the missing apostrophe in "Britannia'" distributive justice.)
On leaf 117r of The Tragedy of Admiral Byng, 1756-1757
