Two identical standing figures, one facing front, the other back to create a mirror image. Portrays Captain Silas Talbot, holding a telescope in his left hand, braced on his left hip, a member of the Society of the Cincinnati. Blue frock coat with scarlet lapels, gold lace edging on lapels, button holes, gilt buttons, gold lace outline on pocket flaps, gold lace on pocket button holes, scarlet cuffs, blue cuff flap, narrow gold lace outline of cuff flap, button holes, cuff edge, white lining. Scarlet waistcoat, gold lace edges and button holes, gold buttons, narrow gold lace outline of waistcoat pockets and waistcoat pocket button holes. Blue breeches, gold breeches button and knee buckle. White stockings, black shoes with gold shoe buckles. White lace stock, stock ruffles, and wrist ruffles. Naval officer pattern sword with black scabbard, etc.
