Note
Byng's ghost, clad in an admiral's uniform, warns [Wellington?] "Mark!!! If those who have caused the death of thousands are suffered to escape, I am a murdered man." In Byng's left hand is a paper bearing the words "Guilty of error of Judgement [sic]" Unlike the ministers at home behind Byng, those behind Wellington afforded him both the manpower and money needed to sustain his campaigns.
Behind the ghost at upper left is the Island of Minorca.
On leaf 267r of The Tragedy of Admiral Byng, 1756-1757.
