Note
Head and shoulders, to the left, seated in a chair. Square with ornate classical border, 4/16. Title is a facsimilie signature.
The copy of the engraving has been removed from its original source, mounted on the current sheet, and enclosed in a single line inked border.
At the lower right corner of the sheet in red ink handwriting it reads: "M. O. C, Signer from Georgia of the Declaration of Independence, Governor of Georgia, Chief Justice, Colonel, etc." In the upper right corner the number "293." is written in pencil.
This engraving appears in B. J. Lossing, Biographical sketches of the signers of the Declaration of American Independence......on page 234.
