Bust, as from a statue, in profile to the right. Oval with lace-like floral border 2/16. Without letters and reversed from original.
This appears to be a photomechanical reproduction of the original lithograph on a new plate. The original of this lithograph, the reverse of this copy showing the bust to the left, includes the following: In facsimilie script, "Your most obed. servant Wm. Franklin." Printed below the title: "From a small bassereliero [bas-relief] in the possession of Archer Gifford, Esq." Below at the right: "Lith. of Sarony & Co., New York." A coat-of-arms appears below the title.

William Franklin was the son of Benjamin Franklin and served as the Governor of New Jersey under the British, Postmanster of Philadelphia and Clerk of the House of Assemblies of Pennsylvania before returning to England.
