Head and shoulders, to the right, in Roman robes. She holds a book to her breast with her right hand. An urn is seen to the right. Oval inside solid border 1/16. The portrait is shown in an elaborate rectangular frame of scrolls and flurishes with a hook at the top as would be seen on a miniature. The title appears on either side of the hook. Below is written the following: "In the character of a Roman Matron lamenting the lost liberties of Rome."
