Note
The flying camp, a reserve of mid-Atlantic militia that was intented as a mobile force able to respond quickly to British movements, was headquartered at perth Amboy under General Hugh Mercer. The organization was not notably successful and Henderson of Philadelphia (later a Continental Captain) is concerned with the uncertainties of another impending army reorganization.
