Letter from Dr. Read, director of the Continental Army's hospital at Salisbury, N.C. to Col. Lewis Morris, Jr., aide-de-camp to Gen. Greene. Read writes just 10 days after the battle of Cowpens and reports that there are 75 patients under his care; he also dressed 15 wounded of the British from Cowpens; one of the sick was Col. Abraham Buford from the massacre at Waxhaws by Tarleton's dragoons; Read asks Lewis for the movement of the enemy & Gen. Greene's opinion on the safety of the hospital & states his plan to move the hospital to one of the Moravian settlements. Digitized Image available, see URL
