Within a rectangular frame, a three-quarter port. of Foster in judicial robes, torso turned slightly to his left, head turned toward center. Below the port. is the Foster coat of arms.
Foster is one of the signatories to the 14 Feb. 1757 document certifying the legality of the 12-judge sentence on Admiral Byng -- see p. 197 of "The Trial" on leaf 191r of The Tragedy of Admiral Byng.
