Note
Major Fishbourne, aide-de camp to General Anthony Wayne, to Lewis Morris, Jr., aide to General Nathanael Greene. Both were members of the Society of the Cincinnati.
General Wayne was ordered to the South after Yorktown and was immediately detached by General Greene to pacify Georgia; in this letter Fishburne reports on Wayne’s movements into Georgia, and expresses his hopes for the security of his hometown of Philadelphia.
