This engraving, produced from the Reynolds 1753 portrait, also appears as the frontispiece for "The Life of Keppel", by his grandnephew, the Rev. Thomas Keppel.
Keppel was a junior member of the court-martial that sat for Byng's trial, and ultimately one of those few who petitioned to ameliorate the penalty -- D. Pope, At twelve Mr. Byng was shot, pp. 305, 307, 309.
