Full figure, postured facing left, head in profile, in uniform, right arm stretched out pointing forward, left hand on hip. He wears a black armband on his left arm, in mourning over the death of his father, Lieut-Gen. Edward Wolfe. Troops can be seen landing in the background in preparation for the Battle on the Plains of Abraham. Rectangle. Double line border 1/16 with a second single line border another 1/16.
Below the title it reads: "From a scarce contemporary print engraved by R. Houston"
This engraving by Freeman, is based on a mezzotint by Richard Houston in 1767, which was based on a water-color sketch by Wolfe's aid-de-camp, Capt. Hervey Smith.
The copy on the smaller sheet is an illustration from Otto Trevelyan, The American Revolution (call no. 973.31 T812, 1909).
