Though bearing different titles these volumes constitute one work, of which part 1 is not numbered and parts 2 and 3 are called "first volume" and "vol. II," respectively. The work is one of several histories largely plagiarized from the Annual register, London. Pages 3-69 of the first part appear to have been copied from William Russell's History of America, London, 1778, v. 2, p. 425-457. The remainder of the first part and practically all of the second and third parts are, apparently, reprinted from An impartial history of the war in America, London, 1780. For an analysis of the various editions of the work and their relation to the Annual register, see O. G. Libby, Some pseudo histories of the American Revolution (Wisconsin Acad. of Sciences, Arts and Letters. Transact. v. 13, pt. 1, 1900, p. 419-425)
