Note
Geary entered the navy in 1727, captured several small Spanish ships between 1743 and 1745, and became rear admiral in 1759. Captain Francis Geary sat on the court martial of Admiral Byng.

On leaf 15v of The Tragedy of Admiral Byng, 1759-1760. Facing his portrait is a letter from him to a Capt. Norbury of the ship Sandwich, ordering Norbury to receive "all such persons as shall be sent on board ... and cause them to be victualled...."
