Note
Bust with torso turned to his left, head facing slightly forward; title within surrounding oval. Military and naval paraphernalia at base of the oval.
Admiral Hawke arrived at Gibraltar on board the Antelope on 3 July, 1756, with an order for the supersession of Admiral Byng. On 26 July, Byng arrived at Spithead, where he was placed under arrest.

A similar engraving, in reverse and signed by Benoist appears in John Entick. The general history of the late war ... 1763/64 opposite p. 2741, vol. 4.
