Three-quarter length, standing facing front. His right hand rests on a walking stick. His left hand rests inside his vest across his heart. Under the title is a facsimilie signature. Rectangle with single line border 1/16 in which the names of the authors appear.
This engraving originally appeared in Longacre and Herring's The national portrait gallery of distingished Americans, Vol. IV. without the single line border.

This is a portrait of John Trumbull's father who was Governer of Connecticut during the revolution. He was made an Honorary Member of the Society of the Cincinnati in in 1784 by the state of Connecticut.
