Half-length, seated facing forward, head slightly to the right. Below the title is a facsimile signature. Rectangle.
This is the same engraving that appears in Herring and Longacre's, National portrait gallery of distinguished Americans, Vol. I. See P&E L2003D106m. However, this copy has the addition of an inch wide ornate floral and flurishes frame beyond the single line border 1/16 around the portrait which contains the names of the artist and engraver. This copy is an illustration from Otto Trevelyan, The American Revolution (call no. 973.31 T812, 1909).

Charles Carroll was an Honorary Member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the state of Maryland in 1828.
