A view of the obilisk marble monument in its locality in Savannah, Ga. Christ Church is shown to the rear and local residents are shown strolling in their Sunday best among the trees that surround the monument.
This is page 216 from Gleason's Pictoral Drawing-Room Companion. However, no date appears on either side of the page. The sales tag on the mat shows the date April 8, 1854, but it is unclear if this is the date of the publication. A short story accompanies the engraving and describes the monument and the city of Savannah. There is also a story about Wheeling, Virginia (now West Virginia) and an accompanying engraving on the same page.
