This is a photograph of a commemorative tablet that was placed in St. Paul's Chapel, New York, commemorating the Centennial Service of the Dealth of Washington. A relief bust of Washington, in profile to the left, based on Houdon, in a circle of laural leaves is center at the top of the tablet, with the eagle of the Society of the Cincinnati to the left, and the ensigna of the Sons of the Revolution on the right. The inscription reads as follows: "This tablet is erected in commemoration of the centennial anniversary services of the death of his excellency Gen. George Washington, commander in chief of the armies of the United States during the war of the Revolution. Observed at St. Paul's Chapel on the Broadway, New York, December the Fourteenth, MDCCCXCIX. General Society of the Cincinnati. Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York." The names of the organizing committee and the officiating clergy are listed at the bottom.
