Note
This print is contains a photograph of a panel of bronze relief that hangs on a wall beside the Sub-Treasury on Wall Street in New York, near the Ward statue of Washington. The relief represents Washington, full figure, kneeling in prayer at "the darkest moment in American history." His horse is seen tied to a tree in the background right and his hat is on the ground in the foreground lower left.
The work is admired by many for its sentiment and as an illustration of Washington's character and piety.
This print is signed by the sculptor; "To Henry R. Drowne from his friend Kelly. Feb. 12, 1917."
Gift of H. Russell Drowne, Jr.
