Note
A lithograph of the classic picture of Washington taking leave of his officers at Fraunce's Tavern. However, the purpose of this drawing is to show the Tavern which is located in NYC at the corner of Pearl & Broad. Rectangle.
After the authors name below the lithograph, it states, "for D. T. Valentine's Manual, for 1857." David Thomas Valentine was the Clerk of the Council of the City of New York, and pursuant to a legislative resolution, began publishing the Manual of the Corporation of the City of New York in 1841 and annually thereafter until 1867. The manual was a compilation of illustrations and historical information about the city. This lithograph was commissioned for the edition of the Manual that was published in 1857.
