The equestrian statue of Washington by Henry Kirke Brown (1814-1886), dedicated in Union Square, New York on July 4, 1856. The statue commemorates Washington's greeting by the citizens of New York as he was turning his horse around to bid his troops to halt, November 25, 1783.
