Full figure, standing to the left. She holds a rose in her right hand while she gently lifts her skirt with her left hand. She wears a kerchief on her head which is tied at her chin and her hair is decorated with pearls. The background suggests a garden setting with an urn on a pedistal in the right rear. Inner rectangle with rounded upper corners within a larger shaded rectangle which includes the title.
This is an illustration from Schroeder's Life and times of Washington, vol. II, page 696, published by Henry J. Johnson. This copy differs from the one published by Johnson, Fry & Sons in 1857, with the original copyright information removed from the bottom of the print, and new publisher information added immediately below the engraving.
