Full-figure, standing, facing forward, head slightly to the left. His left hand is in his waistcoat pocket and his right hand rests on a small draped table containing his hat and a quill pen. A small piece of the paper has fallen to the floor next to the leg of the table. In the back, to the right, is a chair with a book on it. Another book is leaning against the wall in the lower right. Rectangle. The title is a facsimilie signature.
