Mrs. Schuyler (wife of Philip Schuyler) along with her children, a young slave and a man urging them toward a waiting carrage, are setting fire to the fields using a candle in a lantern being held by the slave. A dog is seen at the lower left. The house is in the background, far away on a hill.
