These are copies of an illustration in Longacre & Herring''s, The national portrait gallery of distinguished Americans, Vol. IV.
The copy on sheet 28 x 18 cm. is from Schuyler, and has added a single line border 1/16 around the rectangle except where the names of the authors appear. Otherwise, it is the same at the copy in Longacre and Herring.
The copy on sheet 26 x 18 cm. is without letters and facsimile signature and has been retitled to read: "Thomas Pinckney. Fourth President General of the Society of the Cincinnati. 1825-1829." This copy appears in, Portraits of the Presidents General of the Order of the Cincinnati, published by the Society of the Cincinnati in 1887 (call no. 369.131 R475, 1887).

Thomas Pinckney was an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the state of South Carolina.
