Full figure, standing to the right. His left hand is in his waistcoat and his right hand is behind his back. He stands in front of a table where his hat and a pen and inkwell can be seen. A stool is in the lower left, and a pair of boots are seen on the floor next of the leg of the table. A small book is lying on the floor in the lower right. Outside a doorway to the right rear, you can see the back of a guard standing watch, and the backs of another solder and a man seated on a log near a tent The title is a facsimilie signature.

The copy mounted on mat board was removed from its frame for preservation. It was originally accessioned as Mus. #822 along with a framed copy of an engraving of Morgan Lewis. See P&E L2003D235..
