Three-quarter figure, standing, body to the left, head to the right, in uniform. He appears to be aboard a ship with another ship in the background to the right. His left arm is wrapped around an unfurled flag.
The caption indicates that permission to use the Jarvis painting was granted by the Corporation of New-York. Under the title is a facsimilie signature. The copyright does not indicate the year. In the lower right it reads: "Miller Print."
