Note
Full-figure, seated in a chair, body to the right, head to the left. His left arm rests on the writing desk on the right of the picture and he hold a paper in this left hand. His right hand rests on his right knee and holds a handkerchief. His cane rests against the chair to his right and behind the chair is a table with a rose in a vase. Title is a facsimilie signature. Below the title it reads: "From the original painting in the possession of the publishers."
This is an illustration in Duyckinck's National portrait gallery of eminent Americans, Vol. I, page 241.
Robert Morris was made an honorary member of the Society of the Cincinnati by the state of Pennsylvania in 1783.
