Note
Center rectangle shows Washington's troops marching down a hillside, from the rear, toward the shoreline. Boats can be seen in the river and Manhattan in the distance. Embellishing the scene on all sides are representations of a Roman soldier to the right, a goddess to the left, a sword, liberty cap, and laurel leaves at the top and the American flag flying at a fortress on the bottom. The title appears below the flag.
