Full-figure, seated in a chair to the left, in uniform. His right hand rests on his sword, which rests on the floor between his legs. He holds his hat in his left hand which rests on his knee. The setting is on board a ship with a view of the water and another ship through the gun turret. Title is a facsimilie signature. Below signature it reads: From the original painting by Chappel in the possession of the publishers."
