Note
Full figure, standing in front on his horse, body to the left, head to the right, in uniform wearing a cape. He holds his hat in his right hand and his left hand is wrapped round his sword. The background depicts a meadow in the mountains. Title includes facsimilie signature.
Below the title it read: "From the original picture by Chappel in the possession of the publishers."
This engraving appears as a illustration in Schroeder's Life and times of Washington, Vol. II, between pages 234 and 235, copyrighted 1858, and also in Duyckinck, National portrait gallery of eminent Americans, Vol. I, between pages 196 and 197, copyrighted 1862.
Nathaniel Greene was an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the state of Rhode Island.
