Full figure, standing, in uniform, to the left in a fort. He holds a spyglass in the right hand. His left hand is on his hip. His rifle leans against the fort to the left. A cannon is behind him to his right. A sentry stands guard in the background. The title is a facsimilie signature.
Below the title it reads: "From the original printing by Chappel in the possession of the publishers."
Both copies are from Duyckinck, National portrait gallery of eminent Americans, Vol I, between pages 170-171.
George Clinton was an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the state of New York.
