Full figure, standing, facing slightly to the right, in uniform. His right hand rests on his sword and his left hand rests on a map which in on a table to the right where his hat also rests. A chair, to the left, holds his coat or cape. Rectangle. The title is a facsimilie signature.
Below the title it reads: "From the original painting by Chappel in the possession of the publishers."
