Note
Battle scene of troops scrambling up a hill in a surprise night attack on the Fort, with General Wayne being lifted by several soldiers with his right hand raised as he speaks. A large American flag is being carried by a soldier to Wayne's right.
The black and white copy was published by Johnson, Fry and Co. in Dawson, Battles of the United States by land and sea, Vol. I, between pages 522-523.
The handcolored print, with the copyright information printed below the engraving, is an illustration in Henry J. Johnson's publication of Schneider's Life and times of Washington, Vol. II, between pages 90-91. This copy of the engraving is surrounded by a tinted rectangle which includes all letters.
Below the titles on both copies it reads: "From the original picture by Chappel in the possession of the publishers"
The black and white copy has accession number 89.1.274.5
