Full figure, head to the left, in uniform, standing on a pedestal. His left hand rests on a shield with stars and stripes and he holds his hat in his right hand, which rests at his side. Above the shield, beside his left arm it reads, "First in War, First in Peace, and First in the hearts of his Countrymen." Below the pedestal is the engraver's name and address and the copyright information.
The standing figure of Washington may be after the statue by Houdon.
