Note
Full figure, standing slightly to the left, head to the right, in uniform, on pedestal, holding cocked hat in left hand beside his sword, and his right hand, slightly raised, palm open is extended in a speaking gesture. Vignette. Miniature without letters. Head appears to be after Stuart.
The smaller sheet appears to have come from an unknown book and the engraving is surrounded by a rectangular decorative border of curls and leaves that rounds to an oval at the top.
A third copy of the engraving is printed on a small card and below is printed "Feb. 22nd 1876"
Finally, on a scrap of paper is a poorly struck impression with the right side of the engraving obscured by a heavy plate marking. The ink did not make contact with the paper over most of the torso.
Unable to identify in Hart, Charles H., Cat.of the engraved portraits of Washington.
Gift of H. Russell Drowne
There are 6 copies of the engraving in this folder.
