Note
Full length, seated in a chair to the left. Holds papers in his outstretched right hand and holds his walking stick in his left hand. His artificial left leg, below the knee, is clearly shown. A table with a book, papers and a pen are to his left, and the stool with his hat is in the backgound to his right.
This is a copy of the illustration in Duycknick, National portrait gallery of eminent Americans, Vol I, between pages 864 & 865.
Gouveneur Morris was made an honorary member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the state of New York in 1803.
