On p. [1] "This List was copied from one in Manuscript that had been prepared by Col. Lewis Nicola which was kindly loaned by Mr --- of Philada to whom the manuscript belongs."
On p. [1] "Notes (in original) The method by which officers were first promoted in the American Army being irregular particularly in cases where officers were prisoners several alterations were afterward made and commissions articulated.... The following lists being made from a variety of documents, viz Resolves of Congress, Returns & Registries of Commissions in the War Office, I have... the ground work & wrote it in black, the rest in red ink, tho I have reason to think most of them are right."
Ranks, names, Dates of Commissions, and Casualties of General Officers, Regiments, Cavalries, Companies, Battalions, &c.
Two page note (unattached) of the "Statement of the military service of Henry K. Craig" 28 July 1882 with accompanying slip reading, "This book - a List of Revolutionary Officers - lent to me by Dr. Henry K. Craig, 1622 P. Street and I suppose belongs to him. He however found it amoung the possessions of Miss Katherine Amelia Craig, his aunt and it really belongs to her estate, it is of no practical value. HRWebb May 20 1926."
